Division 10: Psychology, Law & Ethics

Welcome to Division 10: Psychology, Law & Ethics

The International Association of Applied Psychology, division 10, Psychology, Law & Ethics was initiated in 1986 by Roy Malpass and officially formed in 1988. Division 10 is a worldwide network of academics and practitioners, with common interests in a variety of domains, such as investigative interviews, detection of lies and deception, credibility assessment, face recognition, legal decision making, clinical assessment, recidivism and dangerousness, ethics applied in legal and psychological practices, among other topics.

To date the division has 150 members from 29 countries, that is: Algeria, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

The IAAP, division 10, Psychology, Law & Ethics provides its members an opportunity to communicate about research and practice in the psycho-legal and forensic psychology arena, and undertakes joint research projects with colleagues across the world. Finally, it serves as a platform to communicate, share ideas and data about new challenges faced by our societies. The division is therefore strongly involved in the new special project “Immigrants and Refugees” supported by the International Association of Applied Psychology (https://iaapsy.org/policies-initiatives/).
