2026 ELECTIONS

Call for Nominations for IAAP President-Elect

In 2026, IAAP members will be invited to elect a new President-Elect who will assume the presidency of IAAP at the end of the International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP) to be held in 2030.

The election will take place between 15 December, 2025 and 30 January, 2026 if the call for nominations for president-elect yields at least two eligible nominations by the beginning of December 2025. If it does not, then, a second call for nominations will be launched and the election will take place in March 2026. In either case, the election will be conducted through online voting, using software designed to ensure accurate, secure, accessible, and efficient voting.

The IAAP member who is elected President-Elect in 2026 will serve as President-Elect until the 2030 ICAP and then proceeds to serve as President for four years (2030-2034) and Past President for four years (2034-2038).

Call for Nominations

As Chair of the Elections Committee, I have the pleasure of inviting all IAAP Full Members and Fellows to submit names of candidates for the office of President-Elect in keeping with the rules stipulated in IAAP’s Constitution and Rules of Procedure.

The deadline to submit nominations for President-Elect of IAAP is the December 5, 2025 at 23:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

Eligibility

To be eligible for nomination for President-Elect of IAAP, one must be a member of IAAP who has been in good standing with the Association for the last two years (i.e., 2023 and 2024 membership dues paid). Furthermore, for the forthcoming election, only IAAP members who reside outside of Europe may be nominated for the position of President-Elect. This is because the incoming President of IAAP is from Europe, and IAAP’s Rules of Procedure (as ratified in 2022) require that the President-Elect and the President of the Association be from different continents.

Nomination Procedure

As stipulated in IAAP’s Rules of Procedure, each candidate for President-Elect is nominated by two IAAP members in good standing (i.e., dues current at the time of submission). It is desirable that nominations be made by colleagues from different countries.

Members who nominate a candidate for President-Elect are required to submit all the following documents in support of the nomination:

  • Two letters of nomination.  Each letter should provide: (i) the name and e-mail address of the nominator; (ii) the name and e-mail address of the nominee; (iii) the name of the position for which the candidate is being nominated: and (iv) a description of the qualifications and merits of the nominee – each letter should be addressed to the Chair of the Elections Committee and signed by the nominator.
  • A letter from the nominee indicating that they consent to be nominated for President-Elect and that he/she is committed, if elected, to serve for the full term of office as President-Elect (from 2026 until 2030 in the present instance), plus the terms of office as President (four years) and Past President (four years) – the letter should be addressed to the Chair of the Elections Committee and signed by the nominee.
  • A short biography of the candidate (including educational background, present and former positions, research and professional activities, organization membership and involvement, and international congress participation) (no more than one page);
  • A brief statement from the candidate describing what they wish to achieve as President of IAAP (no more than one page).
  • An email address that can be used by voting members to contact the candidate during the election period to ask questions about their resume or statement.

Candidates may include in their resume or statement a link to a web page where they provide additional information related to their nomination.

The nominations and all supporting documents must be submitted by e-mail directly to the Chair of the Elections Committee, Christine Roland-Levy, at christine.roland.levy@gmail.com before 23:00 UTC on December 5, 2025. Incomplete or late submissions will be deemed invalid.

Please remember that only IAAP members in good standing (i.e., dues current at the time of submission) can nominate candidates for President-Elect, and only IAAP members who have been in good standing with IAAP for the last two years (i.e., those who have paid their 2023 and 2024 membership dues) can be nominated for President-Elect.

Voting Procedure

As stipulated in Article 1.2.1 of IAAP’s Rules of Procedures (as ratified in 2022), the “preferential voting” method shall be used to elect the President-Elect. In the extremely rare case that two candidates receive the same number of votes, the Past President shall decide.
