What are the challenges faced by high achieving students? What stops them from achieving their best results? How will personal coaching improve their results? What are characteristics of the coach and those of the student that contribute to the improvement in student's performance? The first author has worked with several students in a top boys' secondary school in Singapore and has successfully improved their academic performance. Based on her case studies, she will present her findings on the common skills and character traits of an effective coach for high achievers, and the mental and emotional processes of the high achiever as he goes from mediocre to high achievement. There will be a discussion on what makes the coaching relationship work and the factors that lead to peak performance.
