PATH ANALYTICAL ASSESSMENT OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND LEADERSHIP STYLES (TRANSFORMATIONAL AND TRANSACTIONAL) LEADING TO LMX AND JOB BURNOUT

Researchers examined the effect of Emotional intelligence on leadership styles- both transformational and transactional leadership and their impact on followers perception of LMX leading to burnout. Job burnout, which was measured with the help of Maslach burnout inventory, had three components i.e. emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low personal accomplishment. As a result total six path analysis were computed with multiple regression analysis was computed to establish a causal path from, emotional intelligence to transformational and transactional leadership to leader member exchange leading to burnout. Three paths for transformational to three components of burnout and three paths from transactional leadership to three components of burnout. Four scales were used in this research. Data was collected from a leading Indian company. Results of this study are discussed in detail in the paper.
