ENHANCING THE PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH LIFE SKILL TRAINING

The study aims to investigate the effect of life skills training on enhancing the personal, social an academic performance among adolescents. Criterion sampling procedure was adopted. The sample consisted of 277 out of which 84 were girls. The data was collected by using Mooney's problem checklist, self esteem questionnaire, study skills, high school personality questionnaire and interpersonal checklist. The study was carried out in four phases: pre-training assessment, implementation of life skills program post training assessment and follow-up. The life skills training involved many activities related to self-awareness, understanding self, social skills, study skills, value education and techniques to improve concentration and memory. Data was analyzed using ANOVA and Fishers least significant difference test. Results indicate that life skills' training is useful in enhancing personal, social and academic performance of high school students.
